Associate Professor Bev Lawton
Assoc Prof Bev Lawton (iwi Ngati Porou) is the Director of the Women’s Health Research Centre, University of Otago. She was made an Officer of the NZ order of merit by the Queen for services to women’s health in 2004. Past president of the Australasian Menopause Society.
She has a major interest in Indigenous health including access to treatments , knowledge and community involvement and ownership of health innovations.
She has recently been awarded a Health Research Council program grant to look at Preterm births and carry out interventions to improve child health for Māori.
She is presently a fellow of the Royal NZ College of General Practice and a member of He Hono Wahine , Te Ora and Te Akoranga a Maui.
and the NZ National Cervica Screening Program HPV Technical Reference Group. She works clinically with the Capital Coast DHB women’s health service and as a clinical director at the Wellington Menopause Clinic
