Dr Mary Rickard
Professor Rickard is Chief Radiologist at Sydney Breast Clinic, and she also holds a position of Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney in the Discipline of Medical Radiation Sciences.
In 1987 Dr Rickard was appointed as Director to establish a Sydney-based pilot mammography screening project, later part of BreastScreen Australia. From 2001 to 2006 she was State Radiologist for BreastScreen NSW. As a diagnostic radiologist she has a keen interest in breast imaging techniques and interpretation, in new technologies, and in professional training.
In 2002 she received a Member of the Order of Australia award, for service to medicine
through the integration of population based screening for early detection of breast cancer,
and the development of education programmes for health professionals.
In 2015 she was elected a Life Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the College and to the profession.
